LIREMA, a network of eye clinics in Scandinavia and Lithuania, constantly updates the technologies applied to eye diagnostics and treatment. This year, it was decided to invest in four Visumax 800 lasers from one of the leading German manufacturers, Carl Zeiss. These lasers perform highly safe and accurate laser vision surgery by the SMILE method.
According to Mindaugas Socevičius, the manager of the clinic chain, SMILE laser eye surgery performed with this new generation laser is a breakthrough in the field of vision correction. Scientific studies have proven that during laser surgery using the SMILE method, the patient’s cornea is much less affected compared to other laser correction methods such as FS-LASIK, SMARTSURFace, TRANS PRK or LASEK, so the eye healing period is particularly short.
“This laser makes it possible to shorten the laser eye surgery procedure to a few tens of seconds and the postoperative period to just a few hours. After that, you can live a normal life, which is particularly convenient for the patient because the procedure does not require going on vacation or enduring a long postoperative recovery,” says M. Socevičius.
Dry eyes are one of the phenomena that disappear after a long time following the postoperative treatment plan. Due to the extremely precise Visumax 800 laser technology, the probability of feeling dry eyes after the procedure is reduced to a minimum.
“When choosing which laser manufacturers to cooperate with and which technologies would exceed the expectations of doctors and patients, we first think about the latter. We want to give patients as much comfort as possible when dealing with vision problems. When it is known that the procedure is fast, simple and does not require complex post-operative care, it is more confident of turning to specialists, which means that we can contribute to the preservation of the vision of a larger number of patients”, the manager shares his experience.
The first two lasers can already be found, and patients can be registered for the procedure in the capitals of Sweden and Denmark – Stockholm and Copenhagen. The other two lasers will soon reach Scandinavia and Lithuania.
